EU-funded project to build resilient and mentally healthy societies
REMESOS is a new, EU-funded programme coordinated by EuroHealthNet designed to strengthen mental health and social resilience across European countries. The project responds to persistent post-pandemic pressures and widening inequalities by combining population-level prevention and promotion with service-level transformation, creating an integrated approach that links public-health action with improvements in care delivery.
REMESOS is organised around two pillars. The first focuses on community and population measures—embedding mental health promotion, prevention, and stigma reduction across sectors (education, workplaces, local authorities). The second addresses the service side—supporting health and social-care organisations to strengthen access, continuity, and quality of psychosocial support, with attention to vulnerable groups and local capacity. Together, the pillars are intended to move systems upstream while improving responsiveness for people already in need.
The consortium brings together a multi-country partnership (dozens of organisations from several EU Member States and associated countries) to test, transfer, and scale interventions. Expected outputs include:
Practical toolkits and good-practice compendia for municipalities, schools, and workplaces;
Implementation support for services (pathway design, workforce resources, monitoring);
Policy guidance to reduce mental-health inequalities and to prevent deterioration in at-risk groups;
Evaluation and knowledge-sharing to aid wider adoption by regional and national authorities.
The project has the following outcome goals: preventing worsening mental health, narrowing inequalities, and supporting recovery through evidence-informed action. By coupling upstream prevention with service improvement, REMESOS aims to help public authorities and providers move from fragmented pilots to scalable, transferable approaches that can be embedded in routine practice. For funders and policymakers, this offers a structured route to align local initiatives with national strategies and EU frameworks.
