Spanish Presidency leads EU conclusions on mental health

The 2023 Eurobarometer survey revealed that 46% of EU citizens faced emotional or psychosocial challenges in the past year, highlighting the need to address mental health. In response, the European Commission launched a comprehensive mental health approach with 20 initiatives and 1.23 billion euros in funding. Led by the Spanish Presidency, the Council of the EU recently adopted conclusions on mental health, stressing its individual, social, and economic importance. These conclusions urge member states to create cross-sectoral action plans, ensuring timely access to mental health care and establishing an interdisciplinary mental health workforce.
