PAREA Executive Director Tadeusz Hawrot has been invited to attend this high-level conference at University College Cork, convened by Ireland’s Department of Health as part of the Irish Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
Bringing together ministers, senior officials, researchers, and experts from across Europe, the conference will examine how mental health policy can contribute to a more resilient, secure, and competitive Europe. Discussions will focus on lessons from previous crises and ways to embed systemic mental health resilience in communities, public services, and emergency preparedness.
The programme will address priorities including scalable mental health and psychosocial interventions, workforce and system capacity, digital and community-based support, and the inequalities that leave vulnerable populations particularly exposed during health threats. It will also consider how the EU’s “mental health in all policies” approach can strengthen crisis preparedness and responses to future cross-border health challenges.
