Introducing the Independent Psychedelic Evidence Assessment Working Group (IPEA-WG)
A new initiative has been launched: www.ipeawg.org — the official platform of the Independent Psychedelic Evidence Assessment Working Group (IPEA-WG). This multidisciplinary group is hosted by the Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade de Lisboa and made possible by Norrsken Mind, a foundation dedicated to advancing psychedelic science in Europe.
As regulatory bodies across Europe and beyond evaluate the safety and effectiveness of psychedelic treatments, IPEA-WG brings together scientists, philosophers, and health experts, with minimal conflicts of interest, to provide rigorous recommendations anchored in the philosophy of evidence and causality in medicine.
"Our goal is to provide sound expert recommendations based on multidisciplinary perspectives that are firmly anchored in the pluralistic advances of the philosophy of evidence and causality in medicine."
IPEA-WG Chairs:
Eduardo Schenberg, PhD — Researcher, Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade de Lisboa
Franklin King, MD — Director of Training and Education, Center for the Neuroscience of Psychedelics, Massachusetts General Hospital; Instructor in Psychiatry, Harvard Medical School
Marion Haberkamp, MD — Head of Unit Neurology, Psychiatry, Ophthalmology, BfArM (Bundesinstitut für Arznimittel und Medizinprodukte)
This unique collaboration spans pharmacology, neuroscience, philosophy, clinical trials, causal inference, psychotherapy, lived experiences and indigenous knowledge, all dedicated to advancing evidence-based psychedelic medicine.
