Advancing ketamine-assisted therapy: international lessons on implementation in public healthcare

Watch the recording of our webinar «Advancing ketamine-assisted therapy: international lessons on implementation in public healthcare» — a joint event by UPRA and PAREA.

Ketamine-assisted therapy has recognised therapeutic potential in treatment-resistant mental health conditions, including depression, acute suicidality and post-traumatic stress disorder. While racemic ketamine is a widely established generic medicine, its off-label psychiatric use is not yet commonplace.

Speakers explored examples across different European countries in integrating ketamine-assisted therapy within public healthcare systems — clinical approaches, pathways for implementation and reimbursement.

Speakers:

Iryna Ivanchuk — Department Head, Public Health Centre of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.

Dr Lowan Stewart — specialist emergency physician, founder and Medical Director of Axon Clinic, specialising in  ketamine-assisted psychotherapy. Practising in the United States and Norway since 2003, he now advises public ketamine centers across Norway and is a founding member of the Norwegian Rapid-Acting Antidepressant Network (NORAAD).

Dr David Erritzoe — psychiatrist, neuroscientist and Clinical Associate Professor in Psychopharmacology and Psychiatry at Imperial College London. He heads Imperial's Centre for Psychedelic Research and is Director of the NHS-based CIPPRes Clinic, established in 2021.

Prof Fabrice Jollant — Professor of Psychiatry, Paris-Saclay University; President, National Union for Suicide Prevention.
