PsyPal expands inclusion across trial sites - can you help support recruitment?

PsyPal, an EU-funded clinical trial, is working to address an important care gap for people with palliative care needs. Across four European countries, the project is investigating whether psilocybin therapy can support the management of depressive symptoms among people with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), multiple sclerosis (MS), atypical Parkinsonism, or advanced Parkinson’s disease.

Led by an international team of researchers, clinicians and European healthcare organisations, PsyPal responds to the often unmet psychological needs and existential distress experienced by people living with life-limiting illnesses. As the first EU-funded clinical trial investigating psychedelic therapy, the project is contributing to the evidence base on psilocybin therapy and its potential role in addressing these mental health needs.

Until recently, each of PsyPal’s four clinical sites was able to recruit participants from only one of the populations included in the trial. Following a new amendment, sites can now recruit across a broader range of conditions, enabling the study to reach more potential participants.

PsyPal is currently recruiting and is looking for local support to help spread the word. If you work with clinical, patient-facing or other relevant networks across Europe, you can support the project by sharing information about the trial with communities that may benefit from hearing about the opportunity.
